Currently the PTRP community encompasses six buildings providing over 554000 sq. ft. of wet lab office meeting and residential space. PTRP is home to over 40 technology tenants including Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Lipids Sciences Program who collectively employ over 850 university and corporate personnel from around the globe.
Piedmont Triad Research Park's (PTRP) Wet Lab LaunchPad provides resources and amenities to growing high tech companies. According to the Park's website www.ptrp.com the LaunchPad provides the next step up from incubation in the commercialization process for companies in the Winston-Salem, NC region. PTRP's Wet Lab LaunchPad opened in 2007 to accelerate the growth of the research park and to stimulate the local economy with furnished lab and office space within the newly constructed 180K square foot Richard H. Dean Biomedical Research Building.
Wake Forest University's Babcock Demon Incubator (BDI) has recently expanded their wet lab facilities to provide lab space for up to six companies. The incubator is designed to help young start-ups reach a proof of concept stage and to develop a business plan. The incubators website wfubdi.org states that through a strong relationship with Wake Forest University's Institute of Regenerative Medicine, BDI is positioned to support medical device companies and companies focused on developing new medical technology.
