The Nidus Center for Scientific Enterprise focuses on incubating plant biotechnology and life science businesses in St. Louis, Missouri. Until this summer the Nidus Center had occupied 40,000 square feet on the campus of Monsanto Company’s world headquarters. Recently, the Nidus Center moved to the Danforth Plant Science Center campus's Bio-Research and Development growth Park (BRDG-Park) freeing the previously held offices and lab space for Monsanto to operate.

PHILADELPHIA--(October 21, 2009) – A new regional Proof-of-Concept program is pumping $600,000 into technology commercialization in the Greater Philadelphia region.
The University of South Carolina, Columbia Technology Incubator (USCCTI) is located in downtown Columbia and provides business assistance, access to funding, wet, labs and office space to local ventures within its 43K square foot facility.1, 2
USCCTI is situated within Innovista,3 the University's new research district in the city, designed to incorporate the surrounding community and complement Columbia's Congaree Vista, a vibrant section of the city that has recently undergone numerous redevelopment projects.4
The Southwest Michigan Innovation Center (SMIC) is a life science business incubator with a plethora of regional assets helping early stage companies develop and grow in Kalamzoo with facilities and funding in partnership with The Southwest Michigan First Life Science Fund.1
The incubator is located in the Kalamazoo SmartZone on the Western Michigan University (WMU) Business Technology and Research Park (BTR Park) adjacent to the WMU College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2 and after the recent expansion which opened this past summer,3 the facility has a combined total area of 58,000 square feet of office and wet lab space and provides comprehensive shared facilities and business services to early stage businesses.1
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Technology Incubator was formed several decades ago with the intent to develop the region's high technology economy. The program was incredibly successful and soon the Research and Technology Park sprang up around the Baltimore incubator to house the graduating companies. All residents located on the research park are granted access to UMBC faculty and research facilities.1

PHILADELPHIA--(October 8, 2009) – The University City Science Center announced today that its newest building at 3711 Market Street in Philadelphia has been awarded LEED® Silver Level certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Piedmont Triad Research Park's (PTRP) Wet Lab LaunchPad provides resources and amenities to growing high tech companies. According to the Park's website www.ptrp.com the LaunchPad provides the next step up from incubation in the commercialization process for companies in the Winston-Salem, NC region. PTRP's Wet Lab LaunchPad opened in 2007 to accelerate the growth of the research park and to stimulate the local economy with furnished lab and office space within the newly constructed 180K square foot Richard H. Dean Biomedical Research Building.
The Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies (CCIT) is located in the Technology Centre of New Jersey in New Brunswick. CCIT is a 46,000 square foot incubator with wet labs and office space designed to accelerate small business growth. CCIT is a designated Soft Landings Incubator by the National Business Incubator Association and provides business and marketing services through the New Jersey Economic Development Association's (EDA) Strategic Partner Advantage Network (SPAN). The Incubator provides shared facilities that include conference rooms, office equipment and autoclaves.
The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago was recently awarded $4.5M for refurbishing an existing building in the IIT University Technology Park (UTP) to be used as a business incubator. The September 15, 2009 Daily Herald article explains that the federal funds for the renovation will come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

In addition to the newly planned incubator, IIT operates a number of entrepreneurial and workforce training programs in cooperation with the IIT Office of Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property. The Interprofessional Projects Program (IPRO) pairs students with mentors to solve real world problems with an entrepreneurial focus. The Jules F. Knapp Entrepreneurship Center (KEP) assists high technology start-up formation and business planning for technology based ventures. These programs couple with the Incubator at IIT-UTP which just opened this year to provide research and development space as well as business assistance for early stage enterprises.
